Garmin Window Display - Marine 2008

Introduction
During the summer season, I had the opportunity to design Garmin’s vibrant marine window display for their Michigan Avenue store. This project aimed to capture the excitement of marine exploration and adventure, using creative storytelling and strategic design to highlight Garmin's marine products. By combining dynamic water elements with sleek brand imagery, the display drew the attention of those passing by, inviting them to explore the thrilling world of marine technology. Join me in discovering the process behind this eye-catching display, from concept to creation.
Challenges
Designing the Garmin Marine window display for Michigan Avenue brought its own set of unique challenges. This section highlights the obstacles we faced and the strategies used to create a compelling display that successfully captured attention and communicated Garmin's brand in a competitive market.
- Targeting the Right Audience: The display needed to appeal to an ocean boating demographic, even though most local residents were avid freshwater lake boaters. This required creating visuals that resonated with both groups.
- Standing Out in a Crowded Market: With a saturated market full of established boating OEMs, the challenge was to create a display that would capture attention and differentiate Garmin’s products from competitors.
- Building Brand Trust: As a relatively new player in the marine segment, convincing customers to choose Garmin products required overcoming brand recognition and trust hurdles in a competitive environment.
