Introduction

During the summer months, I had the opportunity to design Garmin’s travel-themed window display for their Michigan Avenue store. This project focused on bringing the spirit of adventure and exploration to life, using creative storytelling and visual elements to highlight Garmin’s travel products. Through a combination of postcard-inspired designs and dynamic, eye-catching graphics, the display aimed to resonate with those looking for adventure, enticing them to explore new destinations with Garmin’s help.

Challenges

Designing the Garmin travel-themed window display for Michigan Avenue presented its own set of unique challenges. This section explores the obstacles faced and the innovative solutions used to create a captivating display that successfully engaged a diverse audience and highlighted Garmin’s travel products.

  • Appealing to a Broad Audience: The display needed to attract a wide range of travelers, from avid adventurers to casual vacationers, ensuring it resonated with diverse interests and travel preferences.
  • Competing for Attention: With many retailers on Michigan Avenue creating their own themed displays, standing out in a bustling retail environment was a significant challenge, especially during the busy summer months.
  • Conveying Versatility: Demonstrating the versatility of Garmin’s travel products in a single, cohesive display required creative thinking to effectively communicate the range of products available for various types of travel experiences.
